Local man Paul O'Driscoll, who has been at the forefront of irish autocross over the last few years,set off on a blistering pace on timed run one with a time 0.5 secs quicker than Anthony Culleton in a similar Semog buggy. however crucially both cars were almost 6 secs clear of the field.
Condition on the the purpose built track were ideal with clear skies over head. a strong entry of 38 drivers took the the loose surface track , in a mixture of semog buggies, the now must have machine for victory and salonn cars ranging from honda civics to Subaru Imprezas.
As the day progressed, the imporovements made to the track were tested to the limit and cars pushed harder and the traffic increased. suprisingly none of the top 2 improved their times over subsequent runs, with O'Driscoll puncturing twice and culleton starting run 3 with a low puncture and enduring a spin on the final corner of the lap.
The event saw a number of newcomers to autocross, club members Michelle Gallwey and landowner Timmy McCarthy shared the Ford Ka owned by Club registrar Brian O'Mahony. With the top 10 dominated by semog Buggies- Matt shinnors took saloon victory in his subaru.
The club would like to thank a number of club memebers who worked tirelessly to make sure the track was up to scratch, liasing with the landowner and improving the surface. The club expresses its utmost gratititude to Timmy mcCarthy for the use of the track and to the Marshalls who assisted on the day. As part of a new incentive by the motor club, all marshalls were entered into a draw for some small token gifts . the winners drawn were;
a) Mark O'Regan
c) Derek O'Brien
