Fastnet Rally is ready to kick off
Clerk of the course John Buttimer is ready to announce details of the fastnet rally 2018. A full 3 x3 stage format will be run giving competitors and spectators alike, full value of a national status event . On an Opt-out year from the Triton national rally series, the event once again will be based in Bantry with the support of the Westlodge Hotel and its General Manager Pat Gill, along with the Bantry town Traders.
For the 4th year running, the event will be running a "1600 Challenge" for all cars up to 1600cc with the overall winner reciving the coveted " king of the 1600s title along with a substantial prize fund. in all there will be 9 Prizes through the event. Previous winners to emerge from very tight battles were " Rob Duggan, Vince McSweeney and Stephen Carey ".
The event will offer fantastic value for competitors over the weekend , with mainfield entry standing at €675 including all levies for 9 stages, the juniors will compete on 6 stages for €450.
Speaking at the announcement of event details , John says " we are keen to strengthen what is essentially a clubman event here in Bantry and have laid on a substantial prixe fund for 1600cc cars in the hope of boosting entries, this couldnt be done without the help of our sponsors here in bantry. I would appeal to all competitors to come support the event and our sponsors over the October Bank holiday weekend.
